Atlanta Olde White Win Charleston Qualifier Event

The Atlanta Olde White RFC came away from the Charleston Memorial Day Sevens event as Tournament Champions. The Championship game was called off due to a lightning storm and the Qualifier event went to the judges cards. Olde White posted a 4-0 record to edge a powerful 3-1 Daytona squad. In the open division, the two teams in the Championship game, the Super Friends (Charleston) and Cape Fear, opted for a boat race. The Super Friends dominated the race from start to finish, and as gentlemen go, graciously conceded the trophy to the visiting Cape Fear players. (Link to game photos)

The Qualifier event scores are as follows:
Savannah vs Greenville 19-14
Daytona vs Ft Lauderdale 26-0
Greenville vs Old White 7-41
Old White vs Daytona 29-19
Savannah vs Ft Lauderdale 21-10
Greenville vs Daytona 12-33
Old White vs Savannah 40-7
Ft Lauderdale vs Greenville 26-19
Daytona vs Savannah 31-0
Ft Lauderdale vs Old White 0-47

The enthusiastic players then descended on the local Charleston scene for a memorable night of beverage, song, and cheer. Thank you to all of the players and fans who helped make this year's Memorial Day Sevens event the best yet! (Link to social photos)

Elections this Saturday (Don't be Square)

Lads!

It is that time of the year when we have to vote in the new executives for the
team.

This Saturday, we will meet at McGuire's Irish Pub in Summerville at 3:00PM to
vote on the future of the team. It should not take long, maybe and hour and a
half to two hours. We'll have a few beers and vote and watch some rugby. It
will be fun.

THIS MEETING IS MANDATORY. IF YOU CANNOT GET THERE, YOU BETTER HAVE A GREAT
EXCUSE, THEN YOU MUST SUBMIT ANY NOMINATIONS FOR POSITIONS AND YOUR VOTES FOR
THE SAME VIA EMAIL TO EXEC@CHARLESTONRUGBY.COM.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THE WELFARE OF OUR CLUB, SO YOU NEED TO ATTEND IF YOU
ARE AROUND.

A list of positions and nominees (so far) will soon be sent by email to all of
you by Chris Miller, VP. There will be more nominees for the following
positions who will be nominated at the meeting. At the meeting you all can
nominate whomever you want, and you may vote for whomever you want... So if you
want to be an Officer of the Club please make your arrangements to be at the
meeting. If you absolutely cannot make said meeting, then you may nominate and
vote by email (as stated above). YOU CAN NOMINATE AND VOTE FOR YOURSELF.

Make sure you show up. The experience will be both fun and rewarding!

Summer 7's Over

Guys,
Thanks for another fun 7's season. We finished the year down in Savannah with the strongest team we have had all year. Grandpa, Jamie, Ryan, Round-Eye, Andrew (R-2 or Round-Eye's Brother), Joe Young, Jake, and I were awesome. We beat Savannah in our first game 38-0. We beat Augusta 28-5 in the next game. Somehow we lost to the Savannah all-star team 19-14 in the semi's????? Augusta ended up beating Savannah in the finals which we could have easily won. As usual we were able to win the party as the only team drinking the whole time - practice of this last week in Chattanooga payed off big time.
7's is done for the summer so no more practice. Look for an email from John Wagner to tell us when the Fall season starts. Continue your ''cross-fit'', ''run-fit'', lifting-fit'', or ''bar-fit'' workouts.
Later - Butch
