Outlaws Win Two at Rucktoberfest

This weekend in Savannah was good for the Outlaws. We had fun, played well in poor conditions, and won both matches with a line up that included new players and others playing out of position. Outlaws beat Hilton Head 24-5 in the first match and the Savannah Shamrocks 21-3 in the second. Great execution of fundamentals- passing & support, along with strong leadership by John Leo, and loose forwards Matt Lee, Zach Newton and Charles VanGraan, the Outlaws were able to maintain possession and get the ball out wide (to guest Wings/ superstars Rob Ritz and TK (Tyler Kirkiewicz))

Charleston Outlaws Host Savannah Shamrocks in Charleston this weekend for a rematch at directions_15.html">WestVaco park in North Charleston, Saturday at 1:00. (directions)

Charleston Rugby Retain Palmetto Cup

The Charleston RugbyClub retained the Palmetto Cup for another year after winning the State tournament at Furman University on Saturday. Charleston defeated Augusta 36-10 in the semi-final before beating Columbia 43-29 in the final. Charleston were the defending champions from last year and now move to 9-0 on the season. They look to conclude their Fall season on winning note at the ''Toys-for-tots'' charity tournament to be held at the Citadel parade deck on Saturday, December 6.

Charleston Finish Fall Season Undefeated

The Charleston Rugby Club finished their Fall season 12-0 by winning the Toys-for-Tots Charity Tournament held Dec. 6 at the Citadel. Charleston began the day by winning 9-0 in a dour match over Columbia, three penalty scores from Butch Setzer making the difference. Embarrassed by their poor performance and with strong ''encouragement'' from the coaches, the Outlaws rose their game for the second match and defeated Coastal Carolina 52-7 to win the tournament outright on points difference. This undefeated season has given us a strong boost for the Spring when we will make another run at a National Championship. The season begins on Saturday Feb. 7 at Columbia and the first home game will be the following Saturday Feb. 14 when Charleston will host Augusta at Mead-Westvaco Park in Hanahan. Spring practice schedule and location will be announced shortly. Happy Holidays!
